Doom: The Dark Ages Guide | How To Locate Source of Demonic Corruption

You need to locate the source of demonic corruption for the Defend Hebeth quest in Doom: The Dark Ages. To be successful, you have to get through dangerous areas, kill waves of demons, learn how to traverse, and beat a powerful demon boss. 

Clearing the Initial Wave

First, you'll encounter a courtyard overrun by demons. Eliminate every hostile foe while advancing. Keep moving; when your plasma rifle runs low on charge, pick up the glowing orbs scattered around to recharge instantly.

Breaking Shielded Barriers

Soon, you'll face enemies wielding shields. Use your deflection ability to ricochet incoming attacks, then strike to shatter their defenses. Once broken, proceed through the newly cleared path.

Scaling Walls and Using Your Chainsaw

After breaking through, climb the wall on your left to continue. You'll meet a tougher demon—equip your chainsaw to dispatch them quickly. Always look for health and armor pickups nearby before pressing on.

Discovering the Secret Room

You might find a hidden alcove below the chainsaw fight. You can drop down to look around and claim any hidden ammo or power-up stores. 

Advancing to the Next Checkpoint

Rejoin the main route and sprint through the hallway. You'll hear your commander calling for assistance. Drop down, grab the ammo stash, and your next checkpoint will trigger automatically as you move forward.

Navigating the Demon Battle Zone

The next chamber houses a massive demon skirmish. Resist the urge to linger and watch the brawl; instead, push straight through, eliminating stealth enemies that attempt flank attacks—clear all foes to unlock the exit.

Marking the Teleporter

Once the room is clear, leap down to the lower platform. You'll find a nearby teleporter—activate it to guide your allies and progress to the next area.

Performing the Shield Recall Jump

Ahead lies a precision platforming section requiring a shield recall jump. Throw your shield at the green-fleshed wall, then immediately jump and recall it to latch onto the surface, propelling you across gaps. Mastering this move is essential for safe traversal.

Upgrading Your Arsenal

You'll reach a small armory after the shield jump. Should you have enough money, use the upgrade station to make your guns and armor better before moving on.

Entering the Teleporter and Facing the Demonic Leader

Step into the next teleporter to enter the final chamber. A portal will summon the demonic leader—a hulking "demonic gator." Focus on repelling its attacks with your shield and returning fire whenever you see an opening.

Defeating the Demonic Leader

Maintain your defensive stance and time your counterstrikes carefully. After depleting its health, the gate blocking the corruption source will open.
